About Me
I originally wanted to teach the MCNE series of classes because I wanted to truly master the material – I felt sure that if I could teach it, I’d definitely understand it. Once I saw just how little the average agent knew about negotiation, I became excited about the need I could fill as an instructor. Receiving a testimonial, like the one below, is a great testimony to the MCNE material and the impact it has:
“An under-priced listing hit the market in the University District Detroit (one of Detroit’s Premier Neighborhoods). The property has had the same owners for 45 years and they have lovingly cared for the home (which adds immense value, especially with historic homes in Detroit). On the Market for 3 days, with over 40 showings and 15 offers, and we got it! I took the time to call the listing agent to 1) gather information and 2) establish myself as a creditable Detroit Real Estate Specialist that understands the pitfalls of Detroit Real Estate and how to overcome / navigate these pitfalls.
Of the information gathered, I learned that the listing agent would not present an escalation clause, if received, and that the sellers were not in a hurry and would highly value free post-closing occupancy. We went $33,900 above asking price, offered $15K appraisal protection, and 30 days free post-closing occupancy. They had two offers within $900 of ours, one of which offered 30 days occupancy with PITI and agreed to split the appraisal shortfall. We won by a narrow margin, and I attribute our success to my CNE training (for which I thank you!). I plan to do a one-hour overview training on CNE to my office to entice everyone to take your training.”
I’ve been a top-performing sales professional in outside sales for over 35 years. In my 16 years in real estate I’ve been the office Top Producer 5 of the 16 years, and I’ve always been in the Top 5% of Realtors nationwide. I’ve been with RE/MAX, Keller Williams, Real Estate One (a large local company), and am now the Managing Broker of the Troy-Rochester office for Key Realty. I was proud of my negotiating ability before I took the CNE class for the first time. However, once I saw the CNE material I realized that I could take my negotiation ability to a completely different level! Today I’m regularly recognized as an expert on negotiation, frequently getting calls for help from agents that have taken our classes, and many that have just heard about me by reputation. I routinely present offers face to face and/or with video, bringing buyers and sellers together in extreme cases. So much so that the last expired listing I had was in 2011!
I’ve been married for 30 years to Pauline. Other than Jesus Christ, she’s the love of my life. I have 3 fine sons, Jacob 27 (Jake), Michael 22 and Stephen 20. The most exciting additions to the family have been Jake’s wife Bekah and our wonderful grandson, Isaiah (20 months). When I’m not playing with Isaiah, you’ll find me playing Jazz Trumpet and Flugelhorn for the North Woodward Jazz Orchestra or shooting Sporting Clays.
